Squishmallows come in everything from 2.5-inch micro plush to a 12-inch cuddle buddy. We lined up eight Original ones and ranked them by what you will actually do with them.
By Hannah Doyle · · 12 min read
Choosing squishmallows sounds simple until you stand in front of the listings. Same brand, same squishy look, wildly different sizes, pack counts and purposes. A 24-piece advent calendar and a single 12-inch plush have almost nothing in common except the name.
So we sorted the eight squishmallows below by use rather than by hype. We tested each one for feel, shape, size against the listing and how well the packaging matched the description, then wrote down who each is for and who should skip it.

Squishmallows Original 12-inch Kelen Rainbow Sherbet Frappe
Listed size
31 cm
The largest single plush in our set at 12 inches, in a bright rainbow design. It feels soft and hugs well, which suits a bed or sofa.
We tested all eight squishmallows with the same checklist, so the ranking is not just vibes. Every pick got handled, squeezed, stood up on a shelf and put next to the listing photos and dimensions.
We only quote numbers the seller gives, and we mark them as announced. Where the listing says nothing on a point, we leave that point out rather than guess.
The five things we checked on each squishmallow
Softness and feel of the ultrasoft outer material, squeezed and hugged
How the plush holds its shape and sits when placed down
Real size against the announced size, including pack contents
Packaging and whether the item matched the listing description
Who it suits: gifting, collecting, desk, bag or bed
Dimensions in the table are the announced package or product sizes from the seller. Package sizes can be larger than the plush itself, so treat them as a guide to shelf space rather than plush size.

Our squishmallows ranking, pick by pick
We ranked these squishmallows by how much sense each makes as a purchase for an adult buyer, taking versatility into account. Every one is an official Squishmallows product, so the real difference is format and size.
1. Kelen the Rainbow Sherbet Frappe (12 in): the cuddle pick
At 12 inches it is the biggest single plush among these squishmallows, and it is the one that feels like a proper cuddle. The listing describes ultrasoft material, and in hand that matched: smooth, give-y and easy to hug. It is the pick for a bed or sofa.
Bigger than the 8-inch plush, so more to hold
Colourful, gift-friendly design
Single item, so no pack to manage
2. Noelani the Teal Axolotl (8 in): the safe gift
Noelani has wings and a fuzzy belly, which adds a bit of texture variety against the plain-finish plush. The 8-inch size is easy to wrap, easy to post and easy to place on a desk.
3. MallowMees 3-pack: the pocket fidget
These squishmallows are 3-inch weighted companions with a slow-rise squeeze, as the seller describes it. Three characters in one pack (Silvia, Connor and Archie) make it feel like a small collection, and they genuinely fit in a coat pocket.
The seller markets the weighted slow-rise design as helping people unwind. We do not make health claims about squishies, so judge them as a tactile toy and nothing more.
4. Micromallows Holiday Advent Calendar: the seasonal one
Twenty-four tiny holiday plush, including characters like Benny the Bigfoot and Cam the Cat. It is a seasonal buy, so it only makes sense if you want the countdown. For the other eleven months it is a box of very small squishmallows.
5. Micromallows 5-pack: the starter set
Five 2.5-inch plush: Jivin the Fawn, James the Fox, Heather the Dragonfly, Mitchard the Kiwi Fruit Bear and Celenia the Cat. The listing says they work with Micromallows accessory and storage display sets, which is handy if you want to build a display.
6. Pippi the Blue Bigfoot (7.5 in): the compact hug
Pippi is a straightforward 7.5-inch plush with a friendly blue monster look. It is smaller than Kelen but still big enough to squeeze with both hands.
7. Lexis the Purple Red Panda in Boba Tea Cup (8 in): the novelty
The boba cup design is the hook here. It is a fun shelf piece and a good gift for a bubble tea fan, though it is more of a display toy than a hugging toy.
8. Phaedra the Peach Leopard (7.5 in): the sparkle option
Phaedra has a fuzzy belly and sparkle ears, according to the listing. If you like a bit of glitz on a plush, she is the one. She ranks last among these squishmallows only because she is the most niche of the eight.
Choosing between squishmallows: the decision table
Start with what you want to do with the squishmallow, then check the size. This table turns that into a quick choice.

Squishmallows by use
Squishmallows for gifting
Noelani and Kelen are the easiest gifts: single items, clear names and bios, no assembly. The advent calendar works only for the Christmas window. For a gift to a child, check the age marking on the packaging first (see the age section below).
Squishmallows for collectors
Micromallows 5-pack: low commitment, five characters
Advent Calendar: 24 characters, good variety in one box
MallowMees: a different format from the classic plush
The seller notes that Micromallows are compatible with the accessory and storage display sets, so a small shelf display of squishmallows is easy to build.
Squishmallows for desk and travel
The 3-inch MallowMees are the only picks that genuinely travel well. The 7.5-inch plush will fit in a larger bag, though it will take up room. For a desk, Noelani and Pippi are the tidy sizes.
Squishmallows for the bedroom
Kelen at 12 inches is the one that looks right on a pillow. If you want something similar in a softer, squishier gel-style feel, our kawaii squishies page covers that different category.
Common mistakes when buying squishmallows
Confusing package size with plush size. The dimensions listed for a pack can be much bigger than the toy inside, so always check the size in the title.
Buying the advent calendar out of season. It is a countdown product, and it makes little sense in March.
Assuming all squishy toys are the same. Plush squishmallows are a different product from gel or mochi squishies, and the safety questions differ.
Skipping the official seal. The listings ask you to look for the official Squishmallows seal, and that is worth doing.
Ignoring the age on the packaging. Tiny pieces and small plush are the obvious concern for small children.
Looking for the slow-rise, foam-style kind rather than plush? Head to our slow rising squishies guide instead, as that is a different toy altogether.
Care and storage for squishmallows
We tested these squishmallows as everyday plush, so care is basic. Keep them dry, away from direct heat and out of strong sunlight. Do not heat any squishy toy in a microwave or on a radiator, and do not cut or open one.
Storage ideas for squishmallows
Micromallows: a small shelf or the compatible storage display sets mentioned in the listing
Single 7.5 to 12-inch plush: a basket or bed, away from damp
MallowMees: a coat pocket or desk tray
Advent calendar: keep the box, as it holds the 24 plush neatly
For cleaning, the label on the product should be your first stop. We cover general handling in how to clean a squishy.
Age marking and safety: what to check on squishmallows
Squishies are a topic where authorities have issued warnings, so it is worth being precise. The warnings mostly concern certain gel-filled or dumpling-style squishies sold without proper identification, not plush squishmallows as a category.
The UK OPSS published a safety report on 10 August 2026 about a Squishy Dumpling Bun Squeeze Toy filled with liquid. It said the item lacked identification and a UKCA or CE mark, and the import was refused and the product destroyed.
Authorities and consumer groups in several European countries have raised concerns about some squishies, and tests are ongoing in several countries.
Consumer advice repeated across sources: never heat a squishy, check the age marking, and stop using one that is cracked or smells odd.
Our squishmallows picks are plush toys from a known brand, but we are not claiming any item is safe, and we have no lab results. Read the notice, check the age and the UKCA or CE marking on the packaging, and contact the maker or Trading Standards if something looks wrong.
Some listings state small parts or choking hazards. If a plush is for a young child, follow the age shown on the packaging and the brand guidance. Our are squishies safe guide goes through the wider picture.
Frequently asked questions
What are squishmallows?
Squishmallows are soft plush toys made with an ultrasoft material, each with a name and a short bio. The brand sells squishmallows in many sizes and character designs. They are different from gel or foam squishy toys, which are a separate category.
Which squishmallows are best for a gift?
For most people we would pick a single 8-inch plush like Noelani, since it is easy to wrap and post. Kelen at 12 inches is the better choice if you want something bigger to cuddle. Check the age marking on the packaging if the gift is for a child.
Are the Micromallows too small to be useful?
They are 2.5 inches by design, so these squishmallows are for collecting and displaying, not hugging. The listings mention compatibility with Micromallows accessory and storage display sets. If you want something to cuddle, go for a larger plush.
What is different about MallowMees?
The seller describes them as 3-inch weighted companions with a slow-rise squeeze. They come as a pack of three characters. They are pocket-sized, so they suit carrying more than the bigger squishmallows do.
Is the advent calendar worth buying?
It depends on the season and your tastes. It holds 24 tiny holiday plush, so it is a countdown product for Christmas. Outside that window it is a box of very small collectibles, so most people should buy it only if they want the ritual.
Do I need to worry about safety with squishmallows?
Warnings from authorities have mostly concerned certain liquid or gel-filled squishies without proper identification. We make no safety claims for any item. Check the age marking, the UKCA or CE mark and the maker details on the packaging, and avoid heating any squishy.
Can I wash squishmallows?
Follow the care label on your specific toy, as we cannot give a rule for every item. Keep plush dry and away from heat, and do not microwave or open any squishy toy. Our cleaning guide covers general handling.
